Navajo Fry Bread

4 C flour, all-purpose
1 tsp salt
1.5 C milk (possibly up to 2 C)
1 Tbsp baking powder
1 Tbsp butter (melted)


Instructions

  1. Sift flour, baking powder and salt into a large bowl.

  2. Add melted butter and milk, a little at a time, mixing by hand until dough is soft.

  3. Knead dough on a lightly floured board, until dough has absorbed all flour.

  4. Pat dough into flat round circles ~5” in diameter and 1/4 to 1/2“ thick.

  5. Pour 1/4" of oil in large skillet. Heat oil and brown each circle on both sides.
